Reading – Writing – Math
Unlock Your Child’s Potential in Reading, Writing, and Math!
At our learning center, we believe that every child is unique, and understanding their individual learning needs and styles is our top priority. We invite you to schedule a free assessment, where we’ll get to know your child and create a personalized learning plan that sets them up for success.
Our Reading and Writing Program (Ages 3 to 13)
Inspired by renowned developmental theorists such as Maria Montessori and Jean Piaget, our engaging curriculum incorporates the Communicative Approach to foster a love for reading and writing. We utilize four effective teaching methods:
– Phonics: Building a strong foundation in sound-letter relationships.
– Look and Say: Encouraging sight word recognition for fluent reading.
– Language Experience: Connecting personal experiences to literacy.
– Context Support: Providing relatable contexts for deeper understanding.
Our Math Program
We believe that children naturally seek to create order and recognize patterns. With the right guidance, every child can develop strong reasoning and calculation skills. Our math instruction progresses from concrete concepts to abstract thinking, making learning fun, meaningful and interactive!
Instead of relying solely on paper and numbers, we introduce math through engaging, hands-on activities. Using colorful shapes, quantities, and interactive objects, we bring math to life, ensuring your child grasps concepts in a enjoyable manner.
Our approach is rooted in child development theory, focusing on problem-solving and fostering a growth mindset. It’s never too late to nurture a joy for learning, and we’re here to support your child every step of the way!
Join us in helping your child thrive in reading, writing, and math. Schedule your free assessment today!
Spanish - French - Italian (4 & up)
We aim to develop students’ overall communicative competence, which includes not only grammatical accuracy but also fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary use, and cultural awareness. Students are encouraged to communicate meaningfully and effectively, even if they make errors.
We integrated skills: The communicative approach emphasizes the integration of the four language skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Rather than teaching these skills in isolation, they are interconnected and practiced together in authentic language use situations.
We contextualized learning: Language is taught in meaningful contexts, such as discussing a specific topic, describing real-life situations, or engaging in interactive tasks. This helps students understand how language is used in different situations and develops their ability to adapt their language to various contexts.
We encourage task-based learning: Tasks and activities are used to promote meaningful communication. Students are given tasks that simulate real-life situations and require them to use the language to achieve a specific goal. This helps students see the relevance of language learning and motivates them to use the language.
The focus is on the student as an active participant in the learning process. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning, engage in collaborative activities, and express their opinions and ideas.
AFTER SCHOOL
PICK UP WITH CARE
We pick up from your child’s school between 2:30pm- 3:30pm to any of our after school programs.
We transport your child:
- By foot in the Spring, Summer and Fall.
- By car in the Winter and rainy conditions.
From 2:30pm to 3:30pm your child will be either having a snack (child must bring his own snack, no nuts allowed) if he needs to or working on sensorial activities until the class starts.
Ages 3 to 11 years old.
Schools: Scandi School, Brunswick School, OLC and P.S. 3 (111 Bright Street) starting on Jan 4, 2024.
Our two hour after school classes start at 3:45pm and end at 5:45pm
Requirements to be part of the pick up program:
- Your child must be enrolled in any of our after school classes.
- If the school your child attends requires a list of designated people to pick up the kids, please make sure the school has been notified ahead about our staff picking them up to avoid delays as our staff needs to make sure all kids have been picked up at the proper time.
- Any extra time after the last class end would have a cost of $20. The child must be picked up by 6:00 pm the latest.
